How many words are needed for the first book in a trilogy series?

I'm trying to break down my novel into three parts; the first bit, I'm stressing over its length. Any advice? Thanks, any is greatly appreciated. How many words are needed for the first book in a trilogy series?
I don't believe that any book is judged on the number of words it has. There are short and long books in trilogies. You have written one book and are breaking it up into three? Will each book have an ending? A real trilogy is usually three separate books, with the first book as a starter, and the others continuation of the characters, but not necessarily the same story. I hope you can figure it out. Stressing probably makes it harder for you to concentrate. Good luck. How many words are needed for the first book in a trilogy series?
The proper length for a book depends on whether the author is an unknown (whose name alone won't sell books) and on the genre.

A first novel in mystery often runs about 60,000 - 65,000 words, while a first fantasy might run 100,000 - 110,000 words. Whether it's part of a trilogy does not matter. It must stand alone, and so should its word count.

One way to determine how long your novel should be is to identify 5 novels in your genre, each the author's first. Get the word count at Amazon, using text stats. Average them, rounding to the closest 5,000 words. That's a reasonable goal length.

maybe try to break it where a very suspenseful part is coming so that way people want to read the second. Then do the same for the second. I good trilogy would have suspense that makes someone want to read the book. Good luck.
As many words as you'd like. What does it matter?
