What would look good with the Van Gogh Starry Night Trilogy?

I really love the Van Gogh Starry Night Trilogy: http://www.overstockart.com/stnitr.html . I would like to decorate my living room around these three great paintings. I would love any suggestions as far as color schemes, patterns and interior design tips! What would look good with the Van Gogh Starry Night Trilogy?
I'd go with cobalt blue accents (lighting, etc.), rich mustard and green colors. Maybe even an accent wall painted that blue color. It's a great color pallet to work with. It would also look good against clean, modern (but not stark) lines.

What is your most memorable bit of the die hard trilogy game?

My most memorbale parts of that game.. had to be the building levels, the airport levels was good and the 3rd one was alright, but difficult to drive that carWhat is your most memorable bit of the die hard trilogy game?
    Wow brings back memories.

My favourite was the building levels, so awesome. Tons of bad guys coming through lifts, the crazy sound of glass smashing, so many weapons to find, and hearing Mclain randomly shout 'Yippee Kay Ai Mofo'. And then once your done you have to find the bomb in the lift somewhere.

I didnt like the driving one that much, and like you i found the airport one ok too, but the building was the real winner. What is your most memorable bit of the die hard trilogy game?
airport levels i definitely remember on the old ps1. Could you use light guns on that game not sure think ive still go the console, games and Accessories lying about somewhere.

What are some good quotes on fate in Oedipus Trilogy?

I need a quote on the theme of ';inevitability and uncertainty of fate'; for each of the play: Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone. I have already found the ones for Rex and Colonus, but I don't think they represent the theme well enough. Please note the scene where the quote is located. Thanks! What are some good quotes on fate in Oedipus Trilogy?
    Oedipus at Colonus:

    ';Who craves excess of days,

    Scorning the common span

Of life, I judge that man

A giddy wight who walks in folly's ways.

For the long years heap up a grievous load,

    Scant pleasures, heavier pains,

    Till not one joy remains

For him who lingers on life's weary road

And come it slow or fast,

    One doom of fate

    Doth all await,

    For dance and marriage bell,

    The dirge and funeral knell.

    Death the deliverer freeth all at last.';

'; Ills on ills! no pause or rest!

Come they from our sightless guest?

Or haply now we see fulfilled

What fate long time hath willed?

For ne'er have I proved vain

Aught that the heavenly powers ordain.

    Time with never sleeping eye

Watches what is writ on high,

    Overthrowing now the great,

    Raising now from low estate.';

    ';Man is born to fate a prey.';

    Antigone:

    ';Past, present, and to be,

    All bow to thy decree,

All that exceeds the mean by Fate

    Is punished, Love or Hate.';

';Strange are the ways of Fate, her power

    Nor wealth, nor arms withstand, nor tower;

Nor brass-prowed ships, that breast the sea

From Fate can flee.';What are some good quotes on fate in Oedipus Trilogy?

Is there anywhere I can read The Ring trilogy online free?

There's no library near our house, and I can't find it in our local bookstore! And my parents don't want to order it, because they hate giving out credit card info online. Can anyone help?Is there anywhere I can read The Ring trilogy online free?
Because you don't have a library and your parents don't want to buy it is no reason to be a thief.

The book is under copyright protection.

';In a civil suit, an infringer may be liable for a copyright owner's actual damages plus any profits made from the infringement. Alternatively, the copyright owner may avoid proving actual damage by electing a statutory damage recovery of up to $30,000 or, where the court determines that the infringement occurred willfully, up to $150,000. The actual amount will be based upon what the court in its discretion considers just. (17 U.S.C. 504)

Violation of copyright law is also considered a federal crime when done willfully with an intent to profit. Criminal penalties include up to ten years imprisonment depending on the nature of the violation. ';Is there anywhere I can read The Ring trilogy online free?
The book is really huge so I can't imagine you sitting in front of your screen reading it, even if it is published somewhere on the net, which I seriously doubt.

If your parents won't order it (which is a shame because every kid should have a copy), ask them to take you to the library. Make sure you tell them it is a classic and would improve your education !

I assume you're at school. You could try asking a teacher ?

  • If I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, will I also enjoy the His Dark Materials trilogy?

I enjoyed the Harry Potter books more the darker the plot became.....so what do you think? If I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, will I also enjoy the His Dark Materials trilogy?
I believe you will. I liked the HP series better as well when the plot began to get darker, and I absolutely love the HDM books. The first book can seem a bit long, but the more you read the better it gets, especially the plot. The last book in particular was astonishing.

I highly doubt you'll regret reading that trilogy. =)If I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, will I also enjoy the His Dark Materials trilogy?
One main difference between these two, aside from the fact that the Harry Potter series is much longer, is that the themes in the Dark Materials series are darker and more controversial. So quite likely you would.
Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy is a great series. There are religious undertones to the book and it would probably be great if you read the first one before the movie comes out and ruins it. It does have references to talking animals, witches, and daemons.
personally I could not get into the His Dark Materials trilogy, but I loved Harry Potter. I have some friends who agree with me and some who don't, so you should probably give it a shot.
I think you will, but be prepared for the heavy anti-religious undertones in His Dark Materials. J.K.'s books have religious themes in them, even and especially the final books. (But her religious themes are more ambigous and torn). I read 2 of 3 but I couldn't get into them. Few writers can compare to the magic of J.K.'s storytelling. Nevertheless, maybe worth a read.

Will they ever finish the last two movies in the His Dark Materials trilogy?

Just wondering, because when they released the Golden Compass movie they left out a lot of the controversial stuff and in the second novel, the Subtle Knife I don't think they can make a standard pc children's movie out of it while trying to ignore the strong undercurrent of religion again. What do you think? Will they ever finish the last two movies in the His Dark Materials trilogy?
The first one failed expectation$, then no $equel. Will they ever finish the last two movies in the His Dark Materials trilogy?
I think that Hollywood really cares only about money, and ';The Golden Compass'; lost money. It's hard to recover from that.

As far as the content, I wonder how they'll explain the rift between the worlds without showing, or at least alluding to the human (child) sacrifice that allowed Lord Asriel to open the window? It's hard to sell child-murder to a PG audience.

No.....it didn't make enough money because of all those idiotic religious fanatics who can't understand that it's just a movie and a book.

I hate those people....I loved the film and would have liked to see more.

The trilogy name of a story that appeared as a series in BOYS LIFE magazine in the early 80's?

In the early 80's there was a comic series that was adapted from trilogy of books. It dealt with aliens that had enslaved the earth. They lived in domes as our atmosphere was poisonous to them. Some of the humans were ';chosen'; to serve the ';masters'; inside their domed cities. What was the name of that book series? The trilogy name of a story that appeared as a series in BOYS LIFE magazine in the early 80's?
The series was called ';The Tripods,'; and was evidently based on a trilogy of novellas published in the late 1960s by John Christopher - under the pseudonym Samuel Youd. The Boys' Life series were generally well-received, though criticized for its simplistic dialogue.

In addition, there appeared a BBC television production around the same time as the graphic series, in 1984. More information can be found at:

    1. Yes, they are a triology.

    2. Yes, they are connected. The movies are sequels of the previous ones, so there are events in the 2nd that depends on things that happened in the first one; and also things at the 3rd one that depends on things happenned in the previous two.

    3. They can be watched separately but you will have some missing links here and there. - i think its kind of like the Gemma Doyle Trilogy but more modernWhat books would I like if I loved the Gemma Doyle trilogy?
THE RAGING QUIET by Sherryl Jordan is a unique historical romance. One of my favourites when I was younger.

It's about this teenage girl who married a much older man, and they have just moved to their new home in a fishing village. The first thing the girl notices is a crowd of villagers beating a handsome young man against a fence.

Anyway her husband turns out to be a drunkard. When he suddenly dies in an accident, she is accused of murder and the villagers condemn her to be a witch. She is forever an outcast, like the young man she saw on her first day. But the 2 meet and gradually befriend each other, and she finds out the reason why he can't talk or communicate normally with people is because he's deaf.

It's a beautiful love story really!
First off, I loved that trilogy too! It was awesome.

You should try the Bartimeus Trilogy. (I think I spelled that wrong, but Google will correct it for you.) It really enjoyed it. It is kind of complicated to give you the summary of the trilogy, but look it up on Google and you will be able to find it with no problem.

What is the theme of the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy?

I have a few ideas but I don't know if any of them are right. Here's what I'm thinking so far: good vs evil, friendship, courage, and even greed. Please tell me what you think and give me some suggestions maybeWhat is the theme of the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy?
good vrs evil, good always winsWhat is the theme of the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy?
Friendship and Sacrifice when the fellowship is created.

Power and Temptation when the One Ring is the object of power and desire tempting all who holds it.

Death and Immortality: Tolkien wrote about The Lord of the Rings and death in his Letters:

';It is mainly concerned with Death, and Immortality; and the 'escapes': serial longevity, and hoarding memory.'; (Letter 211, 1958)

War: the author Tolkien lost many friends in the trenches of World War I and so he felt strongly about war and based the story around war.
For me it seems to be that Courage %26amp; strength are not found only in the hearts, bodies, and minds of those who most would think it would be found in. But also and sometimes greater measures of, in the hearts etc. of the most unlikely and that when the Strength and smarts fail Love, friendship, and often stupidity turned to bravery will conquer all evils, even the darkest that breaks the bravest man's will.
In The Lord of the Rings OnlineTM: Shadows of AngmarTM (LOTRO), players can customize certain elements of the game's user interface (UI), also known as ';skinning.'; While we don't allow you to do a full-scale UI replacement, we do give you the ability to replace selected visual elements of the UI. (A full list of these elements and their sizes is provided at the end of this overview.)

This is an updated (and prettied up) version of the information that had originally been posted in their Beta forums which we had copied to our Developer Discussions - Tutorials %26amp; Other Helpful Information forum. It is a combination of the Skinning the LOTRO UI and Art Assets posts.

    http://www.lotro-shop.com

    http://www.lotro-shop.com/index.html
    I'm going to butcher this probably, but there's a line somewhere in it like ';there's a hope there's still some good in this world. and that's worth fighting for.';

The obvious good vs evil, courage, etc, of course! But for me, when I read the books, I feel empowered.
Good vs Evil is the basic theme with lots of sub themes thrown in. Just what you think - Friendship, courage, timelessness of things.
Greed can get the best of anyone, if you let it. You must be in control of your life and feelings to overcome evil.
Good wins over evil after some dangers.
good vs. evil and there are sooo many more. like sacrifice, pride, humility
You got it right. Add loyalty in the mix.

Is there going to be a 4th installment in the Bourne Trilogy? After The Bourne Ultimatum? Is there going to be a 4th installment in the Bourne Trilogy?
Let's hope not. I mean, the third movie completed the trilogy so perfectly. The story came full circle. Jason Bourne's character arch was completed. So, so, so, so rarely does that ever happen in a trilogy. I hope they leave it alone. It's perfect as it is. But, everyone in Hollywood is a whore, so I can almost promise you that they'll try to make another one. God forbid they attempt to come up with something different and original. No, just rape the crap out of what's already perfect and beautiful and.... grrrr. Is there going to be a 4th installment in the Bourne Trilogy?

What are some good quotes from the Gemma Doyle Trilogy?

I'm making a banner as a signature for a forum, and I want to put some kind of Gemma Doyle Trilogy quote thing on it. Just a short one, and preferably something that has to do with the plot of one of the books. Thanks! What are some good quotes from the Gemma Doyle Trilogy?
Here are a few I found:

What happens if your choice is misguided,

You must try to correct it

But what if it鈥檚 too late? What if you can鈥檛?

Then you must find a way to live with it.

No one asks how or what I am doing. They could not care less. We鈥檙e all looking glasses, we girls, existing only to reflect their images back to them as they鈥檇 like to be seen. Hollow vessels of girls to be rinsed of our own ambitions, wants, and opinions, just waiting to be filled with the cool, tepid water of gracious compliance.

A fissure forms in the vessel. I鈥檓 cracking open.

This is how the fire starts.

    This is how we burn.

Everything is slipping out of my control.

Oh, God, the great and terrible beauty of it.

The one thing I do know for certain is that I can no longer ignore whatever power is inside me.

Does mortal kombat trilogy for the ps1 work for the ps3?

Its a really good game and i want 2 no.Does mortal kombat trilogy for the ps1 work for the ps3?
It depends on which PS3 you have. The older 20, 40, and 80 GB's (the 80GB's before Metal Gear Solid came out last year) weren't backward-compatible, but the older 60 GB was. (I know, I had a 60 GB and used to play Micro Machines from PS1 on it.)

I'm not sure about the new class of 80 and 160 GB's. Check online at sony.com or playstation.com.

In what order should I watch The Matrix Trilogy?

I know the matrix is followed by reloaded then revolutions but I am confused as to where to begin the animatrix. Between what films should I watch it. Or should I watch different episodes at different times. Any help would be awesome! In what order should I watch The Matrix Trilogy?
The CGI video (I think it is called Final Flight of the Osiris) thats in animatrix, i think takes place between the first and 2nd movie. As for the rest of the shows on animatrix, not all that sure if they fall in between those 2 or not.

At start of Reloaded in the meeting that Morpheus, Trinity and Neo, Niobe talks about information that came from the Osiris telling them about the machines digging etc.

The crew of the hovercraft Osiris discover a quarter of a million sentinels drilling through the surface of the earth towards the last human city of Zion. As the ship flees from the pursuing machines, crew member Jue attempts an emergency broadcast drop into the Matrix to warn Zion of the imminent attack. A prelude to ';The Matrix Reloaded';. Written by Alexander Lum

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0350934/plot鈥?/a>In what order should I watch The Matrix Trilogy?
Well, as far as the movies go, from start to finish, obviously.

But the animatrix does not necessarily fall in line with the movies.

Only in several of the segments: ';The Detective'; where Trinity makes contact with Ash, the private detective. Those events obviously happened either before the first movie or between the first and second, but likely before.

Kid's Story is obviously between the first and second films. As we see The Kid in Matrix Reloaded (and he helps to save the day in Revolutions when he is operating the APU).

The Second Renaissance is the history of the Matrix, so it takes place before the films.

Final Flight of the Osiris: Timbo is right actually, this segment did take place between the first and second. Makes logical sense.

The rest of the stories could fall just about anywhere and possibly any version of the matrix.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Great Book. It's sorta fantasy like, so it's similar-ish to Eragon I guess. There's also inkspell, and inkdeath that come after. DON'T SEE THE MOVIE BEFORE YOU READ, it might mess up the characters for you. I read before i saw the movie (I didn't even want to see it), and personally; I think the movie chosen characters are wrong. That's just me. I also think the book's much better, but they usually are. I'm listening to Eldest on CD when I'm in my car. But I really want the next book to come out. What is the third book of the Inheritance Trilogy going to be called?
i am not sure when and i cant pronounce the name. if you want to find out the name, you would have to look on a special edition of Eldest. you can find a special edition in either Borders or Barnes and Nobles.
I couldn't find any information on the new book which makes me think next year (2008). Check out the Random House website, www.randomhouse.com and you can sign up for author alerts for Christopher Paolini. The will send you emails on the new book.
Fans assume it's going to be called Empire because it would follow the Eldest-Eragon pattern, but it hasn't been released yet.

Can a trilogy have a different POV in every book?

like the first book is told by a character named X

%26amp; the second by X's best friend

%26amp; the 3rd one by X or some other main character?

not like in twilight, when their are 3 parts in one back. but as an entire book written in a certain point of view %26amp; the continuation from someone else's POV.Can a trilogy have a different POV in every book?
    I would like that, actually.

Seeing things from another characters POV would be very interesting.

:) I don't see why you wouldn't be able to, I always think that there aren't any rules to writing other than spelling and grammar.

~Nicole.xxCan a trilogy have a different POV in every book?
Of course they can. It's very, very common in fantasy series which may have twenty books all written from different POVs, and with the main characters from each book as minor characters in the others.

But, like someone else said, you risk disappointing your readers, who have enjoyed being in one character's head and are expecting the same again. And you do need to tell a new story with the new book, not just a rehash of the same story from a different POV.
Yes they can. The Guardians of Time Trilogy by Marianne Curley had two different POV's in each book. In the first one, there was Isabel and Ethan, in the second Isabel and Arkarian and in the third Matt and Rochelle. It was in alternate chapters, and it worked really well.

    G2B
Of course it can- I've been doing similar stuff for the past five years. It's difficult, but worth trying. And although the person that said that a differing perspective in the second book might alienate fans of the first book, that's not a good enough reason not to do it.
Yes, but they don't tend to do very well and you lose a large percentage of your fans on the second book. Personally I hate them. Once we fall in love with the characters (which is the only reason we read the sequel) we don't like to let them go
It can be, and has been, done. I can't remember what books I read that were like that, but I found them very interesting. It just has to be done just right so nothing gets lost between them. In fact, I wrote a couple short stories like that once, which were unfortunately lost.
Its been done 2 the point that the vellum was 5 points of view 5 stories 7+ alternate endings/realities and it made sense kind of

needless 2 say i love it

    it flopped though
I think it would be cool, I haven't read a trilogy like that before, but I would if I could find one like that. Give it a go!

How many books are in the Draco Trilogy and what are their names?

I saw a pic saying there are 7 of them but I cant find them anywhere!!!How many books are in the Draco Trilogy and what are their names?
Well if it's a trilogy there'd be three right.

You're talking about the one by Cassandra Claire right?

    I'll check for you.

    Edit:

    Yep there's three.

    http://fanlore.org/wiki/The_Draco_Trilog鈥?/a>

Basically The Draco Trilogy had a lot of controversy. It was very famous, arguably the most famous Harry Potter fan fic written. However it turned out, after it had all been published, that Cassandra Claire had plagiarised parts. It was taken down ff.net but posted on fictionalley. But Cassandra Claire is now a popular and famous author. You may have heard of her, she goes by the name Cassandra Clare now, her book's are the Mortal Instrument series. She's taken it all down. It's very difficult to find unless you know someone.

    Edit:

And it does indeed look like Azriel knows someone.

    Edit (again):

Ok apparently not that difficult. A bit of fishing and there's links from this Y!A Q

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>How many books are in the Draco Trilogy and what are their names?
Haha, Trilogy = 3 if there were more books it would be a series.

    They're called:

Draco Dormiens (207 pgs as a pdf file)

Draco Sinister (996 pgs as a pdf file)

Draco Veritas (1697 pgs as a pdf file)

Cassie has asked that they be taken off the internet now that she's a published author (she wrote a fabulous trilogy called The Mortal Instruments, the first book is City of Bones, I highly recommend) so you'll have a hard time tracking them down, but they are still available some places. She told me she doesn't specifically mind people still reading them but doesn't want them publicly available on websites.

    *hint*

    Edit:

I don't know her personally, but she's an incredibly accessible author and I've written to her several times and gotten replies very quickly. Also, she has a mailing list whereon she posts quite often :)

She also wrote The Very Secret Diaries of the Fellowship, absolutely hilarious LOTR parodies.

    http://www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/
There are only three books, not seven? They are:

    - Draco Dormiens

    - Draco Sinister

    - Draco Veritas

What are you thoughts on the Matrix Trilogy?

Since the Ultimate Matrix Collection is coming to Blu-Ray, I want people to tell me their overall opinions about the trilogy. I think its an awesome sci-fi trilogy, but not better than the Star Wars saga. What are you thoughts on the Matrix Trilogy?
I liked the fact that it kept people guessing and was an original idea. The graphics were good and the starring cast was great. I really liked it and was even thinking about buying the trilogy myself.

Tossing up between Matrix Trilogy, Xmen Trilogy or Lord of the Rings TrilogyWhat are you thoughts on the Matrix Trilogy?
The first was based on Plato's allegory of the Cave (good reading if you look it up), and the read daunting part of the story is that once you have left the cave, what do you do. Since the Wachowski brothers couldn't seem to figure it out, they ended up just making a quasi spiritual and highly action oriented second and third parts. I Don't typically care for the other two since the reasons that the first was awesome was completely absent in the second two. If you are going to spend the money on blu-ray discs...pass those two up, unless you are really yearning for more HD wire work.
All 3 are crack I loved it, but they made neo too Jesus like in the 2nd one. You had citizen offering food in e xchange for guidance and looking over sick people
i thought the 1st and 2nd were good, but the 3rd one sucked
    Yeah... BUT....

    The first one was AWESOME!!!

    The second one was good...

    The third one SUCKED!!!!!

Has anybody read The Golden Compass trilogy?

I heard it's quite popular (like Harry Potter) in the UK. I've been reading literature for young people lately and I was wondering if this would be a good read.Has anybody read The Golden Compass trilogy?
It is VERY good; His Dark Materials are actually my favorite series of books. Many people will ruin them by first watching the Golden Compass movie, which can't possibly live up to the world created by Philip Pullman; don't be one of them. The tales are imaginitive, and absolutely captivating. Go read them. Now.Has anybody read The Golden Compass trilogy?
It's more suited to ages 12+ in my opinion. The first two books were really good, I couldn't put the Subtle Knife down. I thought the last book was a bit of a let down but I'll leave it to you to decide.

But yeah, if you like fantasy stuff you'll enjoy this. Quite a lot of it is based around Paradise Lost, a work by John Milton that was basically an intepretation of Genesis.
I have read the trilogy and I enjoyed Pullman's way of writing tremendously. The plotline of His Dark Materials is far darker and richer than Harry Potter and the characters are far more complex. Plus this is a story that doesn't only deal with good and bad, right or wrong, there are other issues that pop up and compel the reader to think deeply. It is not something I would recommend to children, though, because of the the depth of the story and some of the themes that it delves into.

But it is a good read for YOUNG ADULTS. Definitely a must if you're planning to become a serious reader.
Yes, it is an excelent read. Very worth your time.
I didn't like it as much as the Harry Potter series or Lord of the Rings but it is a fairly good read.
I think it is a really good book, if you liked ';The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe'; the you will especially like this one.
When I first read them, I was a morbid little child. I am currently rereading them, because I didn't remember them all that well. But they are much darker than the Harry Potter series. Very few people die in the Harry Potter books die, and those that do are not children. They may not be adults, but they aren't children either. To tell you more would be to give away plot, so I won't.

I didn't find HP insulting to any religion, either, but this series I did. I didn't appreciate the slams on organized religion, Christianity in particular.

He is a good writer, though, but if that kind of thing offends you, it detracts from it. I agree with Cerulean. I had the same kind of experience as she did. I think the Narnia series, the lost years of Merlin series, LOTR, and others would be better reads, but it's up to you.

You might just want to read it anyway so that you can make your own opinions of it. It's about to become, if it hasn't already, a bigger controversy than Harry Potter was.
They are definitely worth reading. In my opinion they are better than the Narnia series, but not as good as the Harry Potter series or The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
i just finished the first of the books..the golden compass. the whole trilogy is called 'his dark materials'. i'm into reading the second book..'the subtle knife'. and yes they are very good! the world isnt as detailed at harry potter though..i think the guy is trying more so to get across a message and not create a richly detailed world (considering there are several worlds in his books). But yes..a good read so far..i'd recommend it for anyone who is open minded and can think for themselves.
    Have I ever: No.

Do I ever plan to: No.

Reasoning: Its a series (from what I've read of critics) that is blatantly designed to get children to hate God. I myself believe in God, so why would I read a book that debunks and is designed to turn me away from Him? As well, how can an author (or any person really) be so heartless as to try and turn a person away from any God, and basically send them to hell (one way or another depending on the religion)?
I've read them. They're excellent. Exciting, imaginative, and engaging. Of course, they do have some atheist morals, but you may like that, and if not, you can just do like I did and read if for the sake of a good story. And it is a VERY good story. But as for being compared to Harry Potter, it's MUCH darker than the Harry Potter series. None of that lightness, that humor that JKR employs so well.
It is. pretty unintresting for younger people like 9 below
i absolutely love those books. but there is a bit of controversy about them but who cares?!? they are amazingly written, but i would not suggest children under 6th grade read them, there are things they would not understand, or probably accept as truth when it is fiction. i would definitely recomend those books to anyone in 6th grade and above
I did when I was younger. The first book is amazing, and really draws you in..... and just like Harry Potter, it's hard to put down. The second book is good as well, but takes on a sort of underhanded twist that makes you kind of suspicious of the author's motives... and the third one really angered me, because the author takes an amazing idea and distorts it into a controversial subject, involving Eve (from the Garden of Eden), and God. And pretty much, (as the very author admitted), it turns out that the whole meaning behind the book is to try and kill God, which ruined any enjoyment I may have found in the series. The first book really is a great read, but only so it can draw you in to a big, controversial and sadistic mess later on. It's your choice whether you read it or not, but I would definitely be cautious of the message if you opt in the positive...!

You should check out T.A. Barron's Merlin Series if you haven't already. DEFINITELY a good read!!! It's interesting, has a good plot, and is also a fantasy... and I prefer it over The Golden Compass trilogy.
The only thing I've ever heard about it, was that it was written by an atheist, and in the end, they somehow kill God. Evangelists are warning parents that it is a propaganda to make kids not believe in God.

From what I've seen on the movie previews, it seems very interesting.

Hadassah is a young jewish girl who is taken in the fall of Jerusalem. Shipped to Rome she is bought by a Roman family and given as a personal servant to their daughter. This series follows her journey as she falls in love with her masters son. It also follows the story of a German gladiator, Atretes and how their stories connect.

Another good one is Maire by Linda Winsor.

Maire is the young Celtic warrior queen of Gleanmara. On her first raid of the Welsh settlement of Emrys she must fight one-on-one with their ruler, Rowan. She eventually wins and to escape the grasp of the evil warlock Morlach she names the terms of her victory. He must marry her and become her hostage. He agrees to her terms and go back to Gleanmara with her and teaches her people a new way of thinking while winning Maire and saving Gleanmara.

Does anyone have the guts to watch the original Star Wars trilogy 500 times in a row?

I bet $0.75 that noone has the guts to watch the original Star Wars trilogy 500 times in a row. The same day that happens is the same day I'll go to the home of George Lucas wearing a Darth Vader costume and ring his doorbell. That's how sure I am!Does anyone have the guts to watch the original Star Wars trilogy 500 times in a row?
Get your costume on man, I have already done it :)Does anyone have the guts to watch the original Star Wars trilogy 500 times in a row?
I didn't get BA? I love Star Wars. Report Abuse

I bet $0.75 for something completely illogical,

the record for watching tv is 72 hours, im sure YOU would beat that with your 1500 movies in a sitting, And I thought people on this site had no life before?

Lucas...I am your Father, I Am sure he has heard it before, best skip the pleasantries and give him a good whack
If I could actually stay awake and there wasn't a chance of going temporarily insane, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I just like the movies... of course, I'd need my gilfriend or something...
    I wouldn't call it ';guts.';

Guts means courage. Why would it take courage to watch Star Wars?

    Maybe stamina or stupidity.
I do but not for 75 Cents? 75 Million DOLLARS maybe!

I'll go with you to his house too.......
Star Wars is 121 minutes long. That would take 1008.33333333 minutes.
wow what an excellent question. How much time did it take u to come up with it? its just so well thought out and so much more intelligent than the usual questions on here. I am just amazed.
    I likely already have......
    I will never do that.
You win, Star Wars is not my thing.
    damn I stopped at 499

Should Kissed by an Angel Trilogy by Elizabeth Chandler be made into a movie?

I think it should! Who would you suggest to play as Tristan and Ivy? Also, you can't forget Gregory? I still don't know who I think would be perfect for their roles.Should Kissed by an Angel Trilogy by Elizabeth Chandler be made into a movie?
OMG, I LOVE that book!!! :D

The cast I think, should be all new actors and actresses who haven't been on the big screen, just to bring the book to life but keep it special. It's a truly amazing book and would make a crazy good movie! I think it had the same sort of suspense as Twilight...but better :)Should Kissed by an Angel Trilogy by Elizabeth Chandler be made into a movie?
Oh for sure, but I'm pretty sure every one would be very disappointed with it since we all have created images of how we think Ivy and Tristan should be. It would be a great book though, especially with the latest technology to create the perfect image of the glowing angel.

How many book in a trilogy, I don't expect everyone to have the same number depending on favorite author?

    5 or 6

I've only read the first. How many book in a trilogy, I don't expect everyone to have the same number depending on favorite author?
well your question doesn't really make sense, but a trilogy is a set of three books that usually follow.

chronologies also exist, 5 books, and other names for a set of a certain number of books. How many book in a trilogy, I don't expect everyone to have the same number depending on favorite author?
tripod, tricycle, triangle, trilogy hmm i wonder what they all have common
    A trilogy is three books.
Yes, what Tisha said, trilogy means 3.

So is Lord of the Rings the best trilogy in movie history, beating the Star Wars trilogy?

What's the better movie franchise, not counting the Star Wars prequels? Lord of the Rings - Return of the King, won best picture at the Oscars. Star Wars prequels only garnished a few oscars here and there, for special effects, i believe. So is LOTR the better movie franchise?

Also forgot to say that Return of the King made $1 billion worldwide, which no Star Wars movie ever did.So is Lord of the Rings the best trilogy in movie history, beating the Star Wars trilogy?
first, Star Wars is not a trilogy, it is a saga. Okay, so now, that would make LOTR the best trilogy. I base that on box office take, and the fact that it won more total Oscars and other awards than the Godfather trilogy. So is Lord of the Rings the best trilogy in movie history, beating the Star Wars trilogy?
In my opinion, it's a tie between the two. However, the one thing that gives the LOTR trilogy a one-up on the Star Wars trilogy is the acting. Let's face it: LOTR had acclaimed actors in their subsequent roles. Had it not been for the likes of James Earl Jones, Sir Alec Guiness, Sir Peter Cushing, Ian McDiarmid(Emperor Palpatine), and some of the other members of the Imperial forces, Star Wars would have been another run-of the-mill sci-fi saga.
    I do believe that.

If THE GODFATHER Part 3 wouldn't been so lackluster, it would've been the best trilogy ever. I mean, the 2 first films are an incredible achievement in perfection.

The Star Wars films, well I think the first one (Episode IV, 1977 A NEW HOPE) was truly great.

The LOTR trilogy was almost perfection in every film. Acting wise, in the screenplay, and overall.
Of the thirteen companions of the great Thorin Oakenshield, Dori was often responsible for keeping an eye out for the Company鈥檚 burglar, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. Dori and his brothers, Nori and Ori, were among the thirteen companions of the great Thorin Oakenshield on the Quest of Erebor. Dori was often responsible on that journey for keeping an eye out for the Company鈥檚 burglar, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. He proved quite dissatisfied with the task, but nonetheless tried his best.

    STAR WARS IS THE BEST

-First off, Star Wars movies came out before inflation....you should know this stuff before you ask a question

-NOT COUNTING THE PREQUELS? Are you insane???? That's the best part of SW

-There a 6, count them =%26gt; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....6 Star Wars films, making more than the puny 3 that LOTR came out with

-Star Wars became a hit in movies, books, video games, and other items across the globe....LOTR, did not

Don't get me wrong, LOTR is still sweet. But Star Wars rules!
Lord of the Rings is NOT a trilogy!!!! It's ONE STORY broken into three parts. Those parts cannot stand alone (as the individual parts of a trilogy can). Star Wars was the better movie, but LOTR is the better story. And the books are far better, in both cases.
Yes. Lord of the Rings is the best trilogy in movie history. Hands down. For that matter, it's the best series of movies ever.
Lotr is a better franchise for sure!
I guess it all depends on what kind of fan you are, LOTR or Star Wars
    YES NO QUESTIONS
Lord of the Rings = Heaven.

Any novels out there similar to the Matrix Trilogy?

Are there any novels the have a similar theme or plot like the Matrix movies? Something set in a futuristic world with high technology and magic like abilities. I have searched the book stores with no luck. Any suggestions?Any novels out there similar to the Matrix Trilogy?
The Matrix Trilogy is essentially a dystopian society, and there are some fantastic dystopian novels out there, including some classic and absolutely necessary ones:

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley: Brave New World is set somewhere in the distant future. The whole cycle of reproduction is fully mechanic - there are different castes who do different jobs (manual labour, slightly less mindless manual labour, tending to the reproductive equipment, etc.) and these different people are ';born'; in batches who are treated to increase societal efficiency. Because reproduction is fully streamlined and natural human conception is illegal, the concept of ';family'; is considered dirty and taboo. It's a very interesting, and eerily accurate, prophecy of a future steeped entirely in hedonism without repercussions and the nature of human society.

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood: This really recent book is Atwood's second dystopia (the first being the feminist work The Handmaid's Tale), but very different from her first. The book is told from the point of view of ';Snowman'; looking back at the process of how the world got to where it was when he started the narrative: essentially, the book consists of descriptions of Snowman's life in the present (after almost all humans are extinct and the mutant remains of their dangerously technological society run rampant) and his explanation of the process of humanity's last faltering steps before they were all wiped out by poisoned sex enhancement pills, so that an evil genius could replace the old, flawed human with a new, ';perfect'; one. Not much fighting, but lots of technology.

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell: The quintessential dystopian novel. Set in a (then) futuristic society where all the earth was ruled by three totalitarian governments: Oceania (encompassing most of Europe and the Americas), Eurasia, and Eastasia. It follows the gradual rebellion of Winston Smith as he grows more and more reluctant to fall into step with the rest of society, until he's caught. Very exciting. And not the same kind of technology as in The Matrix, but, you know, there are microphones and telescreens everywhere to watch everyone's every move.Any novels out there similar to the Matrix Trilogy?
A lot of people say ';Neuromancer'; by William Gibson is Similar(cyber punk)...I plan on reading it in the near future.

When does the third book in the inheritence trilogy come out?

Which Nora Roberts Trilogy Would You Most Like to See on the Silver Screen?

I love Nora and am especially fond of her trilogies. I wonder which one you would like to see as movies, and who you might cast given your druthers. Thanks!Which Nora Roberts Trilogy Would You Most Like to See on the Silver Screen?
I love Nora Roberts too. My favorite trilogy of hers is the ';In The Garden'; trilogy. I loved the various characters and I love that she added a ghost into the mix. I read all three as fast as I could. As far as who to cast, no sure except for in Red Lilly I would totally cast Topher Grace (That 70's Show) and Scarlett Johansen as the leads. They played in another movie together and were great together. They would be good together here too.Which Nora Roberts Trilogy Would You Most Like to See on the Silver Screen?
I think the Circle Trilogy would make a good movie. It would appeal to a lot of different audiences.

    as for casting. no clue.

Question for booklovers: What is the best Fantasy Trilogy that you have ever read?

I am a bookworm and read books on almost all subjects; these days I am on the hunt for fantasy authors I have not explored as yet. I would prefer trilogies because anthologies beyond three books can be a bit too tedious for a person like me who is reading all the time.

I recently got my first taste of Mercedes Lackey; the book was Exile's Honour and I would give it three stars.Question for booklovers: What is the best Fantasy Trilogy that you have ever read?
I can recommend several.Since you love Mercedes lackey read 'Take a thief'.It is not a trilogy. But you may like it.Alberich from 'Exile's honor is an important character. It is the tale of Skif, a young orphan making his way in the knock-and-tumble neighborhood between two of Haven's outermost walls. Skif is intelligent, good-hearted and creative enough to forage up three meals a day in a place where food is scarce and kindness almost unheard of. After a chain of events leave him homeless, Skif lands in the lair of Bazie, an Faginish ex-mercenary who trains thieves...until he is ';Chosen'; by one of Valdemar's magical horses and becomes a Herald serving the Queen.

Also try Dragonjousters series(joust, alta, sanctuary) by Mercedes Lackey. The setting is ancient Egypt.Hunger, anger, and hatred are constants for young Vetch, rendered a brutally mistreated and overworked serf by the Tian conquest of his homeland. But everything improves when a Tian jouster requisitions Vetch to become the first serf ever to be a dragon boy. His training is intense, and his duty clear-cut: to tend his jouster, Ari, and his dragon, Kashet. He discovers that, because Ari himself had hatched Kashet, the dragon is different from others that have been captured live in the wild and must be drugged to be made tractable. Vetch finds he really likes and understands dragons, and soon he becomes the best dragon boy of all. He still harbors anger, however, toward the Tian invasion. Could he, perhaps, hatch a dragon, and then escape to help his people?

The Time-Master trilogy By Louise Cooper. The books are 'The Initiate',The Outcast and The Master. It tells the story of Tarod a fascinating anti-hero, evolving throughout the series from a loyal disciple of Order to the God of Chaos that is his true heritage, with the repeated examination of his humanity thrown into the mix.

Allan Cole wrote the Timura triology.(review from Amazon)

Warrior Iraj Protarus was a boyhood friend of Safar Timura, who, raised to be a potter, turned out to have an at first unsuspected talent for sorcery. The visions they share and the battles they fight side by side as they set off on a journey impeded by intrigue, enemies, plots, betrayals, adventures, and all the other trappings of the fantasy quest are the basic stuff of the book. Eventually, Iraj has a throne and Safar is his high magician, but realistically, the tale cannot end there, for the friends have hardly seen the last of the host of enemies who customarily badger the possessors of power.

The following are not trilogies. But you may like them.

Dresden file book series by Jim Butcher. There are 8 books in the series beginning with stormfront. It narrates the story of Harry Dresden, chicago's only professional wizard who works as a detective. He stands between the general population who is ignorant about the supernatural world and the monsters - vampires, werewolves, fallen angels, fey. He is aided by Bob,a talking skull.Karrin Murphy-a police officer and Thomas-a white court vampire.

Another supernatural detective series is Nightside book series by Simon R.Green.John Taylor, the main character, is a private eye specializing in finding things. He literally has a private eye, one he can open and find anything. This power only works in the nightside, but anytime he opens it, his enemies (and he does not know who they are, but they have been hunting him since he was young) pick up on his presence like his gift is a homing devise. He as quite a reputation, some of which is true, some not and it gets him into trouble, or sometimes out of it, but it is the fact that some of it has nothing to do with him so much as that he is his mother's son. A mother he never knew and no one will tell him about. One big case is covered in each book, but underlying tensions build up higher and higher running through out the series.

Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, Book 1) by Jim Butcher.(From Publishers Weekly)At the start of Butcher's absorbing fantasy, the first in a new series, the barbarians are at the gates of the land of Alera, which has a distinct flavor of the Roman Empire (its ruler is named Quintus Sextus and its soldiers are organized in legions). Fortunately, Alera has magical defenses, involving the furies or elementals of water, earth, air, fire and metal, that protect against foes both internal and external. Amara, a young female spy, and her companion, Odiana, go into some of the land's remoter territories to discover if military commander Atticus Quentin is a traitor鈥攁nother classic trope from ancient Rome. She encounters a troubled young man, Tavi, who has hitherto been concerned mostly with the vividly depicted predatory ';herdbanes'; that threaten his sheep.Thinking that Amara is an escaping slave, Tavi decides to help her and is immediately sucked in over his head into a morass of intrigues, military, magical and otherwise.Warning:A character gets raped.

Then try the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. The books are quite complex.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the Mars novels and the tarzan novels. There are 11 novels in the mars series beginning with 'a princess of mars'.Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army is whisked to Mars and discovers a dying world of dry ocean beds where giant four-armed barbarians rule, of crumbling cities home to an advanced but decaying civilization, a world of strange beasts and savage combat, a world where love, honor and loyalty become the stuff of adventure. The later books are about his son Carthoris, daughter Tara etc.John carter is a recurring character in all these books as martians live for 1000 years.Question for booklovers: What is the best Fantasy Trilogy that you have ever read?
I liked Jacqueline Carey's ';Kushiel'; trilogy-- Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen and Kushiel's Avatar. A little kinky in places, but complex and interesting from an ';alternative history'; point of view.

As for Octavia Butler's Exogenesis Trilogy-- also called Lilith's Brood, it is well worth the read though much more in the sci-fi genre. In my opinion, anything b y Butler is worth the time it takes to read it.

An odd and under-read little fanstasy trilogy from the 1970s is Morya Caldecott's The Tall Stones, The Temple of the Sun, and Shadow on the Stones.
    Tolkien's '; Lord of the Rings'; and Pullman's ';His Dark Materials';
    Lord of the Rings

    Winds trilogy by Mercedes Lackey
Ursuala Le Guin: The left hand of Darkness

and she has two other books that relate to this one, like the characters know each other, but its been a long time since I read them, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the names. But I think one other one was called The Dispossessed.
I am a major bookworm too! Personally, I loved the ';Gunslinger'; series from Stephen King. It's more than 3 books, but I never got bored. I also liked ';The Martian Chronicles'; from Ray Bradbury - only 1 book, but with tons of good stories in it. Not sure what all you like, but you might check out some Dean Koontz. He did a trilogy on a character he named ';Odd Thomas'; that was good, not to mention all of his other books. I don't mean to ramble, I just LOVE to read, and I have too many favorite authors! The Gunslinger was the name of the first book in the series, which would explain my reason for listing it like that - and I believe that I did mention that it was more than 3 books which are usually labeled horror/fiction, not sci-fi.
Lord of the Rings, of course.

The Fionvar Tapestry - Guy Gavriel Kay.

Master of the 5 Magics - Lyndon Hardy.

I'd second Edding's 'Belgariad' too - it is a 5 book series, but they are very readable.
i prefer Anne rice book its not a fantasy but its the same fiction book to explore our deepest imagination with a suspense thrilling emotion mostly of his book is about vampires and witches with a romance to give men more interesting reading and my favorite is the Mayfair witches or the witching hour about the century old family of witches and a spirit name lasher or if you prefer the chronicles of narnia by c.s lewis seven book trilogy series or the series of unfortunate events book one to book 4
harry potter is a trilogy ? however i would peek three of em as a best trilogy i have ever read
I like Octavia Butler's patternist series, but it's five books. Her xenogenesis series has three books, but I haven't had time to read it so can't vouch. Her stuff is scifi, I don't know if it's your taste. My boyfriend likes fantasy and wasn't too fond iof it.
LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY...ITS BETTER WHEN YOU READ IT....
There are actually several books written by Marian Zimmer Bradley which are wonderful. Each of them can stand alone, however. The books tell the story of Arthur from the women's point of view. The first book looks at the story from Morgan Le Fay's perspective (she is not evil in this story), the second from Morgan's grandmother, I believe, and the third from Guinevere's. There is also a book showing how Avalon was created, and the last book she wrote was about the mother of Constantine, whom she claimed was also a priestess of Avalon.

If you like really funny books, again this is not a trilogy by any means, but they stand alone. It's the Myth series, by Robert Asperin. A young apprentice in magic has his master literally shot out from under him, and he hooks up with a demon (dimension traveler) and has several hilarious adventures. The puns are constant, and some are real groaners, but that's what makes it fun.
    George RR Martin's ';A Song of Fire and Ice';

It's not strictly a trilogy, it is a series, but it is worth the read.

I found it one of the most compelling Fantasy Series i have have ever read (in fact also yet to read as there are still more books due).

Another rollicking good read is always Fritz Leiber's Swords series (aka the Lankhmar series). Mostly short stories about the same two characters, you can find yourself drawn back to them time after time.
I'll recommend the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. The first book is ';His Majesty's Dragon'; (http://www.amazon.com/His-Majestys-Drago鈥?/a> It's a fantasy series (three books) set during the Napoleonic era, only the military on both sides has an air force made up of dragons. I found the books fascinating - good characters, interesting plot, and easy reading. Lots of fun.
It's not a trilogy, but each book uses some characters from the previous book. The Authors name is Piers Anthony(spelling correct) one of his series is the xanth.I liked all I've read from him and I don't read fantasy usually.Another good story is Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King.
Tad Williams: Memory, Sorrow %26amp; Thorn

Book 1 - The Dragonbone Chair

Book 2 - Stone of Farewell

Book 3 - To Green Angel Tower

He also has the Shadowmarch Trilogy but the 3rd book is not out yet (I think), other 2 are Shadowmarch and Shadowplay

Umm, The Gunslinger series mentioned above is actually 'The Dark Tower' series - 7 books - so I didn't suggest it - not sure I'd label it fantasy exactly, more sci-fi, but it's worth reading for sure!
the Talamadh trilogy by Mark James. I read the first book a few years ago. At the time it was by Mark Sebanc. He rewrote the book with another author and it is now called ';The Stoneholding.'; I have not read it, but I did read the first one by just the original author. It was breath-taking. I have never read such a well written fantasy novel. He is a master storyteller, and it was beautiful. I would read any of his fiction just because of that book. He has such control of the language and he doesn't waste words and the story was entertaining.
    I would definitely recommend the ';Shannara'; trilogy by Terry Brooks. I think this trilogy is even better than ';Lord of the Rings';

    1) The Sword of Shannara

    2) The Elfstones of Shannara

    3) The Wishsong of Shannara
Lord of the Rings, far and away. However, if you're looking for something less dense but rich enough to satisfy, you can try The Belgariad by David Eddings, or its sequel, the Mallorean. Each series has 5 books, but I suppose you could just read the first 3 and call it a day.

  • On a trilogy, does each book have to have a prologue?

I'm writing a trilogy. I have the first book written and it has a prologue, does the second and third books need to have prologues also? And from a readers point of view, is it more intriguing when there is an epilogue and you know there's a second book?On a trilogy, does each book have to have a prologue?
    No.

I'm an editor and I'd be very happy if books dropped prologues altogether, since many writers just don't know how to write them. They put one in, not because it's needed, but because they think it's supposed to be there since all the other writers do it!

A prologue is a leftover from the olden days when writers had to ';set the scene'; to an reader who didn't have radio, TV or vid games to distract them.

I prefer books that just plunge right in and sweep me away starting on page one!On a trilogy, does each book have to have a prologue?
It doesn't really matter if all your books have prologue's or not. It just depends on whether or not they need them. Epilogues are used in order to tie up loose ends, or show what happened to characters after. I, personally, don't think an Epilogue should be put in a book if another is coming out. Its better if it's put in the last book to tie everything up.
Nope, the others don't need a prologue unless you deem it necessary to the story's development or reader intrigue. And I usually read an epilogue as the absolute end to something, rather than a connector between novels, but people have different preferences.
No, prologues are not necessary. And personally, if there is another book, I don't want to read an epilogue. =D

How do you beat Boba Fet on Lego Star Wars 2 the original trilogy?

Help! I cant get it!How do you beat Boba Fet on Lego Star Wars 2 the original trilogy?
you shoot him till he falls andd kill him with lightsaber as u r reflecting his shotsHow do you beat Boba Fet on Lego Star Wars 2 the original trilogy?
When he's on his ship (Which I'm assuming is the part where you need help) you're supposed to repair the turrets (They will glow blue or green, meaning you can use the force on him). If it's the rockets, use the force on them. You have to face them and time it right. I don't know which part you need help on so I can't really give more advice.

When George Lucas decided to make the 3 prequels to the Star Wars trilogy?

Did you support it, were you against it, or did you just not care period? When George Lucas decided to make the 3 prequels to the Star Wars trilogy?
To be honest I didn't even know about it until the movies came out. Afterwards, I liked the idea. Because I actually thought that the movies were really well made. When George Lucas decided to make the 3 prequels to the Star Wars trilogy?
I think that it somewhat was a good move, the only reason people are bothered by it is because his greatest work was in the empire strikes back which is the greatest star wars movie created. But I loved seeing the growth of Anakin, in attack of the clones Anakin was kind of a little whiny, but in the third movie you completely see how he has grown and matured and i thought the storyline was pretty good. In revenge of the sith i thought the Anakin/Obiwan lightsaber battle in some parts were kind of dumb, for instance when they were swinging their lightsabers around uselessly and then decide to have a force battle throwing both of them into the walls. When I first saw the Phantom Menace i thought it was great how they developed the new technology making the graphics 50 times better but I will say that Jar Jar Binks kind of ruined the movie. He was soo damn annoying i couldn't stand him. The prequel was a good idea but to some extent you have to look back at the originals those were true classics.
i hated it man they suck compared to the orginal there was only 1 good thing about it and thats darth moul the best star wars character ever he probably could beat darth vader but the rest of it was complete garbage

i was ok with it when they said they were making new star wars but i thought it be actualy be good
I was for the idea, being as it was a missing part of the story on which the entire original trilogy was built, but the execution was almost wholly abysmal.

It had some redeeming features, but most of it was unforgiveably subpar.
I like to look at the end result.....total and complete garbage.

I never want to see George Lucas near a movie set ever again. No...no...no....not even to advise!

He blew it, and 3 times!
I thought it was fine because when I was a little kid I always wondered why Star Wars said Episode IV at the beginning.
    My initial reaction, which was justified in the results, was ';oh no!';
I think it was a pretty good move.
