Are the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman worth reading?

U know like the Golden Compass. I loved the movie! I guess I cant really criticize because i havent read the book. But I'd like to, is it worth the time? I LOVE fantasy books like that I'm a huge Michael Scott, JK Rowling and Sarah Mlynowski fan.Are the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman worth reading?
Of course it is! No doubt about it! And to tell you, the book is way better than the movie. The movie kinda ruined the book. If you loved the movie, I'm more than 100% sure you'll love the book. You might also hate the movie if you've read the book as there are a lot of errors in the movie.

His Dark Materials is the best, I tell you. It's one of the best fantasy stories I've ever read! It has a touch of both fiction (entertainment) and science (fact). I would say I enjoy that series because I like to think on a much deeper scale than the simple words on a page. It's like Harry Potter, but it's much darker, it has reached many subtle levels that I think Harry Potter hasn't reached. I like Harry Potter too, don't get me wrong. But Harry Potter is only for pure entertainment, whereas His Dark Materials lets you think beyond.

Read it, I'm sure you'll like it!

Happy reading! Are the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman worth reading?
Except for Tolkien, His Dark Materials are the best fantasy books I've read; they're wonderful!
yes i would definately reccommend them to anyone that likes fiction. i read them about five years ago and i think im going to reread them soon. Pullman is a wonderful storyteller and writer that keeps you engrossed in his work. 5/5 for the trilogy
The best trilogy ever written!!! PERIOD!!!
Yes I read them when they first came out. I thought they were brilliant. Although I think the second is the best one, if you like JK Rowling you will like it for certain.
it's awesome!!! read it!!!
They are really fascinating, I read them a few months ago and loved them, the movie was absolute crap though, I hated it, the changed a lot.
Uh, yes. I was going to say that if you liked the movie, it's definitely worth reading the books. Then I read down and realised that Krypton has totally said everything I was intending to say.

So, in conclusion, yes. I'd recommend them to anyone who likes fantasy, and/or the movie.
I've read the first book, Northern Lights. i thought it was good. although it is slightly different to the movie.

if you would like to, you can read an excerpt of my novel ';The City of Dawn'; for free at worthyofpublishing.com.

it's fantasy too.
If you like fantasy, I think you'll enjoy them very much. The first book, ';The Golden Compass'; (';Northern Lights'; in the UK) is actually much better than the movie. These are some my favorite books for young adults.
yes , definately a good read. the 2nd and 3rd books are amazing as well, the subtle knife and the amber spyglass.
Yes- I think that the first book is one of the best things I've read. The other two are not quite as good- Pullman starts to lay his atheist philosophy on a little thick in those. Still, they're fine reading, Pullman is a great writer- just don't believe in everything he says.
OMG! YES!

I love those books!!!!!!!!
